Wendy McDonald

Wendy McDonald – Agronomist

Wendy was born and raised on a cattle and grain family farm at Golden Stream (near Gladstone, MB). Wendy and her 2 brothers were the fifth generation of McConnell’s in continuous residence on the homestead, which was established in 1879.

Wendy is a University of Manitoba Aggie, and she graduated with a Degree in Agronomy in 1998. Summer jobs included being a research student with Manitoba Crop Insurance and a chemical company sales associate. Wendy spent a year in Red Deer, Alberta as a Management Trainee with Agricore. Then moved back to Manitoba and took up residence in Newdale, where she lived and worked for 15 years as a retail agronomist and Crop Inputs Manager with Agricore United and P&H.

Wendy and her 2 daughters, KC and Connelly, moved to Gilbert Plains in the fall of 2015. Wendy was the Crop Inputs Manager at P&H Dutton and lead the summer student program for P&H in the prairie provinces. In early 2019, Wendy was hired by 360 Ag Consulting as a Senior Agronomist. She also helps out on her boyfriend, Brian’s grain farm, north of Ashville.

Wendy is a Certified Crop Advisor and a Registered Professional Agrologist. Wendy has been working with farmers for close to 20 years. No two of those years have ever been alike, each coming with its own unique set of challenges and opportunities. Crop Scouting is Wendy’s favourite part of the job.

Wendy is also an Ag in the Classroom Volunteer, Provincial Counsellor with Agrologists Manitoba, Secretary for Grand Plains Minor Hockey, Fundraising Coordinator for Veselka Ukrainian Dance, and Manager and Assistant Coach for Female Bantam Hockey. Wendy loves public speaking, rural life, and learning to help people find balance and to live a life they love living.
